NOTE: These records were transcribed by Miss Elizabeth Moore, dec. of New Bern,
NC for the Richard Dobbs Spaight Chapter of the National Society Daughters of
the American Revolution. They were submitted by Miss Moore for the Annual DAR
Reports, Book SIV - 218. Miss Moore was an active member of the NSDAR, a well
known genealogist, and a long time Clerk of the Court for Craven County. The

Died-in Onslow County on Saturday 16th ult. General Edward WARD in the 55th
year of his age. Another Revolutionary patriot gone.
Died-at his residence in Accomack County, Virginia, on the 11th instant in the
80th year of his age, Capt. Samuel WAPLES, native of Sussex, Delaware..Entered
the Army in the U.S. in the Revolutionary War as Lieutenant in the 9th Virginia
Regiment on Continental establishment and marched from the county of Accomack
with his Regiment the latter part of the year of 1776. Story of Battle given.,
etc..

Died in Lenoir County on the 18th ult. Joseph LOFTIN, Esq. In the 58th year of
his age-the deceased filled for many years the office of Sheriff in that
county, and was elected as representative in the State Legislature.
Died at Beaufort, N.C. on the 5th Inst. David BARCLAY, age 1 yr. 11 mo., son of
Major R.M. KIRBY of the U.S. Army.

Notice-The subscriber being determined to remove from the state, offers for
sale on Smith's Creek, 30 miles below New Bern on the N/s of Neuse River, his
plantation and lands on which are a large and commodious 2 story dwelling house,
just finished and painted, a large barn, juniper, pine, hickory, etc. There may
be 2000 cords of wood cut, the fartherest not more than a quarter of a mile
distant from water, where a boat may load along side of the bank.
Persons having a wish to purchase it do well to visit the premises and examine

Daniel WILLIAMSON in the 19th year of her age. In recording the death of this
amiable female although resigned to the dispensation her friends and acquaintances
cannot refrain from lamenting the loss of one with so many estimable virtues.
They may however reap consolation from the premises of Him
Who has said that "the pure in heart shall see God."
