Aug. 2, 1826 North Carolina Journal August 2, 1826 -- Upon receipt of the intelligence of the death of MR. ADAMS [President John Quincy Adams) a meeting was called of the citizens of Newbern, to which the HON. JOHN H. BRYAN, presented some very appropriate resolutions expressive of the veneration and esteem for the character of the "Conscript Father," and of sorrow for his death which was unanimously adopted. JOHN STANLEY, ESQ., was appointed to deliver an oration in honor of MR. ADAMS on Monday last. MR. BRYAN had delivered one in honor of MR. JEFFERSON (President Thomas Jefferson), on the preceding Monday.
