BETTY H. POLLOCK New Bern—Betty H. Pollock, 69, of 1339 Pine Valley Drive, died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, at Craven Regional Hospital, New Bern. A native of Jones County, Betty made her home in New Bern for 40 years with her husband and children to whom she was devoted Her career as a hairdresser spanned 33 years in her home salon serving her family and friends. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, shopping and traveling to visit friends and family. In her quiet way, she was an encourager and supporter of those who knew her and needed her. A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at Temple Baptist Church where she was a faithful and beloved member, with Stephen Cobb officiating. Burial will follow at Greenleaf Memorial Park Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth N. Pollock; daughters, Joy Pollock Duff and husband John of New Bern and Tammy Pollock of Washington, N.C.; sisters, Mildred Ervin of Raleigh, Christine DeBruhl of Kinston and Edna Byrd of Dover; and granddaughter Hillary Duff of New Bern. She is preceded in death by her parents Kathleen Gilbert and step father Paul D. Gilbert. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Pollock-Best Funerals and Cremations and at their home after the burial on Tuesday.
