Donna J. Farmer COVE CITY - Donna "Joy" Hawkins Farmer, 54, of 327 Liberty Street, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2010, at Britthaven of Snow Hill. She was a graduate of West Craven High School and Lenoir Community College. Joy was a lifetime member of the NRA and a member of the Cove City Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Harvey and Ava Warters Sutton; her paternal grandparents, Curtis and Sallie McCoy Hawkins; and her fa-ther, Carl L. Hawkins. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 26, 2010, from the chapel of Garner Funeral Home with Pastor Eddie Griffin officiating. Interment services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday from Cove City Cemetery with Pastor Barry Teague officiating. Survivors include her husband of 23 years, Jeffrey P. Farmer of the home; her mother, Nannie Sutton Deaver and her husband Herman Deaver, of Deep Run; her sister, Linda Hawkins Lee of New Bern; her brother, Curtis Hawkins and wife Debbie, of Cove City; her mother-in-law, Mil-dred G. Farmer of Snow Hill; special nieces, Brittany Lee, Kimberly Hawkins and Amanda Holsopple; and special nephews, Jeremy Lee, Dustin Lee and Christopher Hawkins. The family will receive friends immediately following the service on Tuesday night at the funeral home and other times at her brother's home, 9220 Old Highway 70, Cove City.
