September 28, 1922. Charlotte Observer. JAMES H. SMITH New Bern, Sept. 26 - James H. SMITH, aged 78, well known in New Bern and Craven county, and a Confederate veteran, died at an early hour this morning at his home on Johnson street from an attack of heart trouble. The funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 4 o'clock, Dr. Daniel C. McKINNON, rector of Christ Espicopal church, officiating. Mr. SMITH for many years had been in the employ of the Norfolk Southern railroad of this city. He is survived by three sons.
