March 19, 1909. Charlotte Observer. MR. J. M. SPENCER OF NEWBERN Newbern, March 18 - Mr. J. M. Spencer, a prominent citizen who was stricken a few days ago with apoplexy, died at his home at noon to-day. He was 55 years old, a native of Hyde county, but had been living here for a number of years. He was a man of considerable property, owning Ghent, a suburb of Newbern, and running a large truck farm. He leaves a wife, five brothers and one sister. Please do not contact me as I do not have any information on these individuals.
