Snyder, Frank Lee

Frank Lee Snyder, 81, died on April 19, 2008, at the home of his son, Steven,
surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, at the Coughlin
Funeral Home in Califon, N.J. Calling hours 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Lee was born in Newark, N.J., on April 30, 1926, the son of the late Mildred
Harkerader Snyder and Frank Snyder. He and his sister Jeanne, who
predeceased him in 2002, were raised in High Bridge by their mother due to his
father's early death. After graduating from High Bridge High School in 1943, Lee
enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served from 1943 to 1946 in the Pacific arena on
LST 588, whose crew members participated in the battle of Iwo Jima.

Upon returning, he resided briefly in Westfield and married Claire Van Doren in
1946. They moved to Lebanon Township in 1947, where he was in the foods
delivery industry and became a farmer until 1962, when he started Little Brook
Construction Company. He built over 100 homes for families in the nearby towns.

Lee was a member of the New Jersey Builder's Association and the Lower
Valley Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder. He was also a car
enthusiast, and built and raced stock cars for many years on the nearby
tracks of Flemington, Nazareth and Morristown. Also an avid golfer and sailor,
he belonged to the Beaver Brook Country Club and was one of the three
founding members of the Hunterdon Sailing Club. He also was a member of
the Lebanon Township Committee, and served as mayor of Lebanon Township
from 1965 to 1966.

Lee combined his love and sailing and building by constructing a 35-foot
ferro cement sailboat with his son, Craig. The project took nearly five years
to complete. He sailed his boat to his retirement home in New Bern, North
Carolina, with his wife, Claire, in 1983. There, continuing his love of golf and
boating, he belonged to the Fairfield Harbor Golf Club and was a charter
member of the Fairfield Harbor Yacht Club. He was most often found
participating in sailing regattas with his many friends, or competing in some
golf tournament.

Upon the passing of Claire in 1990, Lee married Jean Castanien. They
continued their life in New Bern and made many trips to Florida and
New Jersey to visit with their friends and families. Until late, they attended
many monthly reunions of their High Bridge class of 1943.

In addition to his wife, Jean, he is survived by his son, Craig Lee Snyder
and wife, Penny Jenness Snyder, from North Hero, Vermont; daughter,
Linda Snyder Henderson of Summit, N.J.; son, James Snyder and wife,
Karen Glick Snyder, of Bloomsbury, N.J.; son, Steven Snyder and wife,
Cindy Jones Snyder, of Belvedere, N.J., and eight grandchildren, Craig
Snyder Jr., Christina Snyder Ray, Julina Henderson Ogilvie, Sharma
Henderson Ropach, Dana Henderson, Annmarie Snyder, Andrew Snyder
and Zachary Snyder. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren and
his niece, Karen Nolte McNulty.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hunterdon Hospice, 2100
Wescott Drive, Flemington, N.J. 08822.

Buccolo, Madeleine Harding

Madeleine Harding Buccolo of New Bern died peacefully at Craven Regional
Medical Center on Sunday, April 27, 2008. Madeleine was born in Dublin,
Ireland, on August 12, 1940. She traveled to New York City in 1960 where
she worked as a nanny. She met a young off-Broadway producer, Robert
Buccolo, on a city bus in 1965. They were married the following year. They
lived on Long Island for many years before relocating to New Bern in 1989.
Robert passed away in 2002.
A memorial service is scheduled for Wednesday, May 28th at St. Paul Roman
Catholic Church in New Bern at 10:00 AM.

Madeleine rejoiced in her family; and, they rejoiced in her. Her mother, Una
Harding, a sister, Pauline "Polly" Parsons, and brothers Stephen Harding and
Colin Harding - all of England, survive her. Two other brothers, Brian Harding of
Dublin, Ireland and Paul Harding of Tucson, Arizona also survive their sister.

Madeleine was an exceptionally cheerful individual who had a positive effect on
everyone she met. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, her ability
to cope with severe physical limitations, her lunches at Annabelle's, her cup of
tea, and her ability to have fun ? no matter what the circumstance. Her family,
her close friends, the staff and residents of Homeplace, her acquaintances - all
who knew her - will agree that she was an inspiration to all and will be sorely
missed.

Flowers are neither expected nor necessary. Expressions of sympathy may
be mailed to P.O. Box 12284, New Bern, NC 28561-2284. All correspondence
will be forwarded to her sister, Polly.

Upon returning, he resided briefly in Westfield and married Claire Van Doren
in 1946.

He was also a car
enthusiast, and built and raced stock cars for many years on the nearby tracks
of Flemington, Nazareth and Morristown. Also an avid golfer and sailor, he
belonged to the Beaver Brook Country Club and was one of the three founding
members of the Hunterdon Sailing Club. He also was a member of the Lebanon
Township Committee, and served as mayor of Lebanon Township from 1965 to
1966.

He was most often found participating
in sailing regattas with his many friends, or competing in some golf tournament.

Upon the passing of Claire in 1990, Lee married Jean Castanien. They
continued their life in New Bern and made many trips to Florida and New
Jersey to visit with their friends and families.

Dunn, Genevieve Tolson View/Sign Guest Book

Genevieve Tolson Dunn, age 90, of Raleigh and formerly of New Bern,
died on Tues-day, May 6, 2008, at Duke Raleigh Hospital.
Genevieve was born on July 24, 1917, to the late Hubert Glenn and
Florabel Day Tol-son. In addition to her parents, Genevieve was preceded
in death by her husband of 53 years, Mark S. Dunn.

Genevieve lived in New Bern for over 80 years. She attended public school
and then Duke University. Her time at Duke ended after two years because,
by her own admis-sion, she preferred parties to the classroom. She then
attended secretarial school in Washington, D.C., where she excelled. She
married Mark Stevenson Dunn in 1940 and they were married until his death
in 1994. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and was very active
in church affairs. She possessed a keen intellect and a strong will, which
with her great interest in New Bern, led to many civic activities and honors.
Her interest in improving race relations led her to co-chair the Good Neighbor
Council, her support for education led her to chair the Craven County School
Board, and her love for New Bern's historical and architectural heritage led
her to spearhead the restoration of the New Bern Academy. For her
contributions she was named New Bern's Woman of the Year.

Genevieve and Mark imbued their children with a sense of duty, independence
and competitive spirit, tempered with an appreciation of fun. They expected their
children to make good grades, be well-rounded, use good grammar, and keep
their elbows off the table. Genevieve particularly enjoyed young people and her
children's friends were always welcome in their home. And when she became
a grandmother, her grandchil-dren, who knew her as Jellybean, were always
welcome and enjoyed their time with her.

Genevieve loved music and animals, particularly dogs. She played piano and
organ by ear. She enjoyed playing cards, doing crossword puzzles and reading.
After Mark's death, she continued to enjoy her friends in New Bern. It was hard
for her to leave her brother and many friends, but eventually Genevieve decided
that she needed to be closer to her children in Raleigh and Wake Forest. Until
a few days before her death, she could breeze through a crossword puzzle and
play a good game of gin rummy. She was a force until the end.

She is survived by her sons, Mark S. Dunn Jr. and wife, Valerie Kossew Dunn,
of Meriden, Conn., Glenn Dunn and wife, Ann Reed Dunn, of Raleigh; her
daughters, Julie Dunn Arthur and husband, Louis Arthur, of Wake Forest, and
Nancy Dunn Longerbeam of Inwood, W.Va.; and her brother, Hubert Glenn
Tolson Jr. of New Bern. Also surviv-ing are her eight grandchildren, Mark Dunn
and wife, Carol, Letha Dunn, Nancy Reed Dunn, Helen Tolson Dunn, Gena
Arthur Renfro and husband, Spence, Ellen Arthur, Steven Longerbeam and
Genevieve Longerbeam; and her three great-grandchildren, Emma and Graham
Bailey Renfrow and Natalie Groves.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. on Friday, May 9, 2008,
at The Gardens of Wakefield, 12800 Spruce Tree Way, Raleigh. A memorial
service will be held at Christ Episcopal Church in New Bern at 2 p.m. Saturday,
May 10, 2008.

For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's
choice.
