OLIVER FRANCIS GRIFFIN, JR. Dover—Oliver Francis Griffin, Jr., age 64, of 495 Daugherty Road, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, January 21, 2008. He died at Craven Regional Medical Center in New Bern, N.C. Mr. Griffin retired from the North Carolina Army National Guard in June 2003 after 37 years of service. He retired as the Operations Sergeant Major with the 60th Troop Command Brigade. Oliver served in Saudi Arabia in Operation Desert Storm from 1990-1991. He is a member of the Dover United Methodist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman, loved to hunt and fish and served as Secretary/Treasurer of Daugherty’s Chapel Hunting Club in Dover. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Patricia Davenport Griffin; son, Michael Allen Griffin and wife Tracey; granddaughter, Alex; and his golden lab, Maggie, all of Dover. He is also survived by sisters, Loretta Lewis, Brenda Riggs and husband Alton, all of Dover and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at the Dover United Methodist Church, 208 North Main Street, Dover, N.C. on Sunday, January 27, 2008, at 3 p.m. The family will receive friends and family in the Fellowship Hall following the service.
