William Thomas Hawkins 
 
DOVER - William Thomas Hawkins, 84, of 660 Loftin Farm Road, passed away 
Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010 at Lenoir Memorial Hospital. Mr. Hawkins was 
Owner / Operator of Hawkins Gas Service for over 30 years and was a member of 
Dover Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Hawkins was preceded in death by his 
parents; William Cicero and Annie Beulah Alphin Hawkins,Sr., his sisters; Lillian 
Hawkins and Lonie Moore, his brothers; Alto Hawkins, William Cicero Hawkins, Jr., 
Raymond Hawkins and Robert D. Hawkins. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday 
evening, Jan. 12, 2010 at 7 p.m. from the chapel of Garner Funeral Home with the 
Rev. Mike Pridgen and the Rev. Butch Haddock officiating. Interment Services will be 
held Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. at the Hawkins Family Cemetery in Dover. The 
family will receive friends following the funeral service. Survivors include his wife of 65 
years, Doris Waters Hawkins of the home; his sons, George Hawkins and wife, 
Virginia of Grifton and Earl Hawkins and wife, Judy of LaGrange; his sister, Annie Lewis 
and husband, Bob of Dover; his brothers, Pete Hawkins and wife, Priscilla and Luke 
Hawkins and wife, Nancy both of Dover; his grandchildren, Sharon Goff and husband, 
Greg and Steve Hawkins and wife, Pam; his great-grandchildren, Brandon Clayton, 
Spencer Clayton and Cassidy Goff and his step-great-granddaughter, Lora Hill. Garner
