MARCH I am researching the Peter Harper family. His ancesters were in Craven County as early as 1747 according to land deeds. Any information on this line would be greatly appreciated. I believe Peter's father was Nicholas but have no concrete documentation for that. I have obtained the will of Peter Harper (which I believe is a Jr.due to a entry in a court record I found online) listing his children as sons, Thomas, William, Jedidi (short for Jedidiah) & Frank and daughters Sally & Gilly. Posted March 31, 2009 DECEMBER I have always suspected a connection to some people I found in the Craven County census many years ago. Now I can't find my notes on those census and the on-line census at Heritage Quest and Ancestry.com can't seem to locate what I thought I found..... I noted Thomas Jones was in the 1820, 1830 census. Today I found Chloe Jones in the 1830, but not a later census. I have notes that Chloe Jones will did not name her husband, so I don't know if he was Thomas, but it did name two children Wiley Jones and Hannah Jones. Now I don't know where I found the information about the will!!! My ancestor is James JONES who was in Wayne co., MS abut 1815, had died prior to the 1820 census. Mary Jones was head of house for that census. Children: 1. James, Jr. Born about 1795 NC married Lydia Wilson 2. Alfred born about 1799 NC married Elizabeth ? 3. Britton born about 1802 NC married Catharine Stringer 4. Chloe born 15 May 1803 NC married Elias ODEN 5. Alson S. B. 19 Dec 1805 TN married Melinda Evans 6. Ralph born 1805/1810 ? Alfred named a daughter Chloe Jane Jones, and his oldest known son was Thomas. Britton named a son Wiley. Also there was a Wiley in the 1816 Wayne Co., MS Census, possibly a brother of James Jones. Chloe Jones Oden named a son Thomas (among other family names). Too many similarities in names for the families not to be connected. Can anyone help me with this Email direct at:
